Feel Patriotic – A Gujarati village Home

A Gujarati Village Home

Generally we choose natural scenes, or our enlarged, larger then life pictures or Gods and goddesses on walls of our home, but look at this wall, why it is different?

Few months ago, in a village near Gir, we went to one of my friend’s home. It was not much different then a village home in Gujarat, but the thing struck my eyes is the photographs in the frames shown above. In their home, everywhere you will find similar photographs. They say, it gives their child the sense of responsibility and he always know what is the price our fighters paid for this freedom. The freedom and the leaders, for whom we are least concerned nowadays.

Is not this a true feeling of patriotism? And the true way to give or rather grow it in your child?

During late eighties, I workeds as Medical officer in Valsad and then Kutch district. As a public health program officer, I had opportunity to see many similar houses in rural areas. Thank you for sharing your picture. It reminded me of those days. It was impressive to notice how simple rural people showed their faith and sense of gratitude towards freedom fighters. Some of us take our independence for granted but it is heart warming to know that still we have people among us who won’t forget the sacrifice of our brave fighters who got us our independence!
